God didn’t wait for me to get my life in order before calling me to missions. After some time, resistance, and coming to the realization that life without Jesus wasn’t worth living, I finally let him touch my heart, and rescue me. But He wasn’t through…he was just setting the stage.
A few months later, I found myself in front of a missionary from Japan. He was calling out for involvement in the missions field. I thought I’d make a deal with God…if He really wanted me to be involved in missions, He should impress upon the missionary to speak to me about it immediately.
I then heard the missionary say that that there was a young man in the congregation whom the Lord was now speaking to be a missionary. There were no more questions, no more requests necessary. I immediately got up and went to the altar.
At that point, I had no doubt regarding my call to missions. But I had to wait 6 years, during which my passion for missions grew immensely. In the 7th year (ironically, the number of perfection), while walking in a garden, the Lord told me it was time.
I didn’t hesitate. Today, nothing has changed except the increase in my intensity. Now more than ever, I am convinced that there is no greater joy than to serve Jesus, on His terms, and doing my part to see that all the nations might know Him the way I do.
Growing up, I had my own plans regarding what I wanted to be. But Sep. 26, 1982, I knew that my future would unquestionably be altered. The next few months were spent asking God what He wanted me to do…at age 14. The answer came in the form of two distinct visions. In one, there was a dove, soaring through the skies, with a twig in its beak. As I was watching, a voice told me, “The dove you see is My Holy Spirit, you’re the twig. I will be the one to carry you to nations, to glorify my name.”
In the second vision, I saw a field, swaying in the breeze, ripe for harvest. I also noticed a mountain behind the field. I then heard the Lord say: “Go out and reap.”..and reminded to read John 4: “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
That afternoon, tears streaming down my face, and joy rising in my heart, with reckless abandon, I said “yes” to the call. The ensuing avalanche of events has brought me to today, where I find myself still reckless, yet still sure. And still experiencing the amazing joy that comes with answering “yes.”

A flight attendant by day and a mastermind office manager by night, Tami has always possessed a love for organizing—since childhood. Her grandfather was a bookkeeper, so she values the ability to keep things in order with honesty. Ministries take a lot of behind the scenes work to make it happen and that is where her passion lies. Tami’s goal is to do the work that takes away from the time needed to rescue and rehabilitate the children who are unwanted, abused and violated. As she puts it, “I have known that if the ones on the front lines of ministry can concentrate on just doing their calling, then they can be more effective for the Kingdom.” We at GR are grateful for our meticulous assistant and friend!
